Thigh Lift Surgery

Sagging skin on the thighs is due to two primary causes: progressive aging or substantial weight loss. The anatomy of the thighs, including the extent of any excess fat, skin quality and muscle tone, will be taken into consideration when making a diagnosis.

Thigh lift surgery may be paired with a body lift, a procedure that removes excess skin on the middle third of the body in one go.

Thigh lift surgery is done under general anaesthetic, with one overnight stay in the hospital and lasting about two hours.

The procedure is performed in several steps.:

Fat suction

All the surplus of fat around the inner thighs is sucked out. Only the excess skin that did not retract after liposuction of the thighs is removed.

Ablation of excess skin

Depending on the level of skin sagging, there are two incision methods.

• Moderate skin excess: There will be a horizontal scar near the groin fold that stretches to the buttock fold. This scar is going to be totally covered by your underwear.
• Significant skin excess: There will be a T-shaped scar consisting of a horizontal scar with a more or less long vertical scar on the inner surface of the thigh.

At the end of the procedure, the physician applies the stitches and then applies a dressing.

Thigh lift surgery generates only a mild amount of pain. Much of the time, it is reduced to a mild feeling of tightness. The dressing will be removed the day after surgery. There'll be bruising and swelling for two or three weeks. The patient should wear compression underwear for 1 month, day and night.

After two weeks, the stitches will be removed. Work may be resumed after 7 to 10 days and sports after the second month. Any changes in thigh sensitivity that often occur will vanish after a few months.

Results of thigh lift surgery are instantly visible and become permanent after three months. The entire upper thighs are thinned out and reshaped with far more firmer skin.

After a year, the scar will eventually settle.
