The eyebrow transplant technique

As with hair transplants, eyebrow transplants follow a process that includes removing the hair from the region where it continually grow back and graft it where the patient suffers from a lack of hair. The technique used is comparable to that of a beard transplant: FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction). Hair, with the bulb intact, is removed from the nape of the neck that has been shaved. And when re-implanted, the hair growing in this area will never fall out.

The stages of an eyebrow transplant

First of all, the patient should have the back of their head shaved at the nape of the neck, so that the hair follicles can be more easily removed and used for the eyebrow graft. The surgeon will then extract the hairs one by one.

Then, the specialist will agree with the patient how they want to design their eyebrows.

The hairs are then manually implanted into the eyebrows with an ultra-fine punch, which is no more than one millimetre in diameter.

An eyebrow transplant operation does not last as long as a hair or beard transplant. This is because there are less hair follicles to be separated manually from the neck nape and re-implanted into the eyebrows. The procedure for implantation of the eyebrow is performed under local anaesthetics. The patient is not going to feel any tingling. The operation is an outpatient operation (no need to spend the night at the clinic), and can last between one-and-a-half and three hours.

Eyebrow transplant: results

From the first few months after the procedure, a modeling gel should be applied by the patient to ensure that the hair grows in the correct manner. The results of the eyebrow transplant are noticeable after six months and are permanent after one year. The new eyebrow line makes the face more symmetrical and shapely.

Because the implanted hairs are head hairs and act as such, they will need to be cut with scissors about every two to four weeks. This means maintaining your new eyebrows is crucial.
