Botox is a botulinum toxin product that greatly reduces the activity of sweat glands that produce sweat.
Treatment: Excessive sweating
Sweating is a natural phenomenon to keep the body at 37 degrees. But in some people the sweat glands have excessive activity. Fortunately it is possible to reduce this hyperhidrosis with Botox injections. Typically, the armpits, the palms of the hands and the soles of the feet are treated.
The course of the session
The doctor begins by determining the areas most marked by perspiration. For that, he uses betadine, then on top a powder of starch which will darken more intensely the places which sweat the most. On each site so identified he will make an injection of Botox.
To avoid any pain, the doctor applies anesthetic cream half an hour before the session. For the feet, it is common to use a local anesthesia because the arch is a very sensitive area.
Botox blocks the muscles that contract the sweat glands. The body therefore produces less sweat.
Recovery
There are a few minor bruises and a slight swelling for a few hours after the session.
The results
The injection of Botox makes it possible to reduce or even completely eliminate hypersudation. The treatment takes effect after seven to ten days for a result that lasts six months.
