Any phototypes can be treated. There are no particular contraindications, except for acne.

Ultraformer® III is a non-invasive, nearly painless procedure. One treatment is divided into two sessions, two months apart.

One session is between 30 and 90 minutes depending on the situation.

After taking off make-up and washing the skin, the physician will determine which areas need to be treated, then will put a conductive gel to guide the handpiece.

The physician channels the energy of the high-intensity focussed ultrasound (HIFU) to the treated area without touching the epidermis directly. Ultraformer® III has several transducers (cartridges) that act between 1.5 and 3 millimeters under the skin depending on the symptoms being treated.

HIFU technology produces several coagulation points at a temperature of about 72 degrees. During the session, 7,500 to 15,000 coagulation points are generated per depth of treatment.

This always begins with the cartridge that works at the deepest level. For instance, on the face of a patient with excess fat (in the form of jowls or a double chin, for example), the physician will first use the 4.5 mm cartridge for a lipolysis effect, then they will use the 3.0 mm, 2.0 mm and 1.5 mm cartridges to treat the sagging tissue and smooth out wrinkles.

Micro-thermic effect of ultrasound

Focussed ultrasound can reach a depth of 1.5, 2, 3 and 4.5 millimetres.

HIFUs penetrate the different layers of the epidermis and dermis at the exact depths down to the fibrous layer that supports the skin muscles of the Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System (SMAS), where the HIFU induces electrocoagulation much like a facelift.

After a few weeks, the skin is lifted by the formation of new collagen (neocollagenesis) and the retraction of skin tissue in contact with the SMAS, leading to a lifting effect.

Macro-thermic effect of ultrasound

Focussed ultrasound reaches a depth of 6, 9 and 13 millimetres.

The HIFUs damage the adipose membranes, consisting of triglycerides that are then transported to the liver through the vascular and lymphatic systems. This process is made possible by the body’s natural metabolism, because the liver does not differentiate between fat from the Ultraformer® and fat from food consumption.

You may resume your daily activities immediately. Localized oedema can be present, with a mild rash, swelling and a temporary, slightly wavy appearance.

Thanks to the new collagen synthesis, the skin is gradually smoother, while the fat is slowly eliminated by natural means. The final results will be visible two to three months after the Ultraformer® III session. It is advisable to have one maintenance session per year.
