Leg Hair Removal: Having Soft and Smooth Legs All Year Round

There are a variety of different areas for laser hair removal:

• The calves and shins: the hair is thick and dark and thus very sensitive to the laser. The skin around this area is very thin and some discomfort can be felt during the hair removal process.
• The knees: the hair is very thin and clear, the hair removal will take longer in this zone.
• The thighs: at the thighs, the hair is also thin and very clear, in some instances it may be light fuzzy hair that should not be treated to prevent stimulation of the hair.

It normally takes between 6 and 8 laser hair removal sessions.

Each session is from 8 to 12 weeks apart and lasts about 20 to 45 minutes depending on the size of the area to be treated and your hair.

Before removing the hair on the legs, a first consultation with the doctor will be carried out which will allow him to know more about your background and your hopes for the first consultation. It also tests the skin and hair to adjust the intensity of the laser, but also to identify any contraindications that could prevent laser hair removal.

On the day of laser hair removal, the doctor takes the opportunity to re-examine the skin and the hair on your legs. He verifies the shaving of the legs and can, if needed, be brought to shave them himself.

When the tests are done, he will give you a pair of safety glasses that you must wear. He delineates the treatment area with a white pencil to avoid zones where hair removal is not required. He then checks the laser on a small part of your skin and verifies the intensity.

After this, he sweeps the area using a handpiece. The cryogenic system of the unit avoids discomfort and redness by propagating a cold liquid during the treatment.

At the end of your session, a moisturizing and soothing cream is applied to your legs to soothe redness and discomfort.

As the sessions advance, the hair grows back less and less. At the conclusion of your treatments, about 90% of your hair will not grow again, except in the case of hormonal variation, as well as during menopause. Maintenance sessions are therefore expected each year.

In the vast majority of cases, laser hair removal of the legs and thighs gives patients more than satisfactory results.
