Vaginoplasty is an intimate surgical procedure that involves strengthening the perineum (pelvic floor) muscles to reduce the width of the vaginal opening.

Vaginal looseness

Vaginal looseness is induced when the perineum is weakened. This is a muscle that bears the weight of the upper body as a whole. It plays an important role in female sexuality because its ability to contract is what produces sensation during penetration. It also prevents incontinence by regulating when you go to the bathroom.

Perineum is especially stressed in overweight people and pregnant women in the event of vaginal delivery or in the event of a poorly closed episiotomy.

In older women, distended perineum can lead the bladder, uterus, and rectum to drop (prolapse). Indeed, after menopause, the oestrogen levels are decreased and the tissue loses its elasticity, which means that it cannot perform its function in supporting organs as it might have done before.

How vaginal surgery works

Vaginoplasty surgery is done under general anaesthetic without hospitalization and lasts approximately one hour.

It has three distinct goals.

Tightening of the perineum muscles

If the anus muscles are weak, the surgeon will enhance the pelvic floor tissue between the vagina and the anus to tighten the opening of the vagina at the muscle level.

Diminishing the entrance of the vagina

Using vaginal surgery, the surgeon closes the bottom of the vagina so that the gap is tighter and higher up.

Vaginal rejuvenation

The surgeon extracts the fat from the patient and injects it into the walls of the vaginal mucosa to minimize the internal size of the vagina. The fat is a living tissue made up of cells that need a daily supply of blood, nutrients and oxygen. Lipofilling improves the vitality and sensitivity of the vagina.

Effects of vaginal surgery

Patients may resume their daily activities five days after having undergone vaginoplasty. They're not expected to have sex for a month.

Results

Vaginoplasty changes the sensation of sex for the patient and their partner, creating a more intimate feeling. It also decreases incontinence, which can cause a lot of anxiety.

Visual enhancement will also arise as the vulva will have a better appearance as the vaginal opening is decreased.
