Chest implants make the thorax look more muscular and athletic. Men with a slim build know far too well that weight lifting is not enough. The most common approach is the insertion of a chest implant.
Indication: Weak pectoral muscles
Chest implants are ideal for young men with underdeveloped ribcage or mid-aged men with sagging breasts.
The pectoral muscles, which are situated on the chest, are divided into two classes of muscles: the broad pectoral on the lower part and the small pectoral on the upper part. For certain men, activities designed to improve these two muscles alternately do not develop the pectoral muscles adequately.
The only solution to get a well-muscled chest is to have prostheses in place.
How the procedure works
Chest implant placement is performed under general anaesthetic with one overnight stay in the hospital which lasts between 45 minutes and 1h30.
The prostheses comprise smooth shells filled with a highly cohesive silicone gel. The chest implant consists of a smooth envelope loaded with a highly cohesive silicone gel.
The surgeon will make a vertical incision of about six centimetres, so any marks will be invisible. The practitioner then positions the prosthesis under the main pectoral muscle in a space.
Then he completes the sutures with absorbable stitches and applies the modeling dressing to the torso.
Post-operative effects
The discomfort is negligible and is well controlled by analgesics. It gradually fades in the first week. There will be bruising and swelling, as well as some pain when the arms are raised, for a few weeks.
The patient must wear a bolero brace day and night for one month to keep the chest prosthesis in place. The patient will resume everyday activities after one week, work from one and two weeks and sports after two to three months.
Results
Results are clearly visible following surgery. The torso will have a natural, muscular look. The pectoral muscles will be more toned and better defined. The muscular function is not affected.
Chest prostheses can be worn for life or discarded at the request of the patient.
