Ethnic Rhinoplasty

Ethnic rhinoplasty is a rhinoplasty procedure for patients with black skin or Asian traits. In fact, these patients have unique features at the nasal level that require special techniques and a great mastery of rhinoplasty.

Patients with the so-called "ethnic" nose have certain features in their noses that are difficult to treat or fix without specific know-how. These procedures are therefore grouped together under the name ethnic rhinoplasty.

Ethnic rhinoplasty therefore makes it possible to treat nose defects of varying degrees and which can only be treated to a certain extent. Therefore, in general, the rhinoplasty of the African or Asian nose allows the nose to be narrower, with a less flattened and better shaped tip, with a wider projection or with less flattened ostrils.

Before the operation, the surgeon will consult you first, which will allow him to know your history, but also your needs and expectations about the procedure. This is a moment of information exchange that will also enable him to inspect the area of procedure and your entire face.

Rhinoplasty functions, as a whole, in the same way as classical rhinoplasty but is tailored to the specificities of the patient.

The surgeon can use several methods to perform your rhinoplasty:

Cartilage grafts : to improve the projection of the tip of the nose, but also to fill the hollow of the bridge of the nose. If the nose is thick, the amount of cartilage used is very important for the reliefs produced to be noticeable.

Nasal implants : ideal for fixing a flattened nose or for raising the tip of the nose. It is mainly used in people with thick skin and particularly in Asian rhinoplasty.

Nasal plasty : Seeks to reduce nostrils too large. When they have a dilated shape, the plasty enables for the removal of skin and soft tissue.

Cartilage suture : to shorten the tip of the nose.

Cartilage and bone resection : helps the structure of the bridge and the tip of the nose to be reshaped.

In general, ethnic rhinoplasty is conducted under general anesthesia and includes a night of hospitalization at the clinic.

The duration of the rhinoplasty is between 1h30 and 3h.

The first rhinoplasty results appear progressively. Thus, the first results are visible three months after the operation. It will, though, take six months or even a year to see the final results of your ethnic rhinoplasty.

It all depends on how easily your skin can adjust to the new shape and size of your nose. So, the more elastic your skin is, the easier it will be. The final results would also be apparent more easily in people with thin skin.
